ALI RAZA
Born in 1969, Lahore, Pakistan. Lives and works between Pakistan and USA.
Ali Raza received his BFA from The National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan, in 1992 and his MFA from University of Minnesota in 2001.
Raza has participated in several international shows, a few selected are: “Printmakers of Pakistan 1947-1997,” Bradford Museum, Bradford 1997; “Pakistan: Another Vision,” Brunei Gallery, London 2000; “Painting Over the Lines: Five Contemporary Artists from Pakistan,” Indo Center of Art and Culture, NY in 2002;“Contemporary Printmakers from Pakistan,” Festival of Muslim Cultures: UK 2006, Oriel Ceri Richards, Swansea, 2006; “Desperately Seeking Paradise,” Art Dubai 2008; “Hanging Fire: Contemporary Art From Pakistan,” Asia Society, NY 2009; “Resemble| Reassemble,” Devi Foundation, Delhi, 2010; “Extra | Ordinary 37 Do-It-Yourself Art Ideas,” Canvas Gallery, Karachi 2013 and “From Here, There, and Nowhere,” Rohtas 2, Lahore, 2014 and “What I think about,” at Katherine E. Nash Gallery, Minneapolis, 2017.
Raza lives between Pakistan and USA where he has taught printmaking, drawing, painting, art history and critical theory seminar on contemporary art. He worked at several institutions in Pakistan and USA including National College of Arts, University of Minnesota, Appalachian State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia State University, and John Tyler Community College. He is currently an Associate Professor and Head of Graduate Studies at SVAD, Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, Pakistan.
