ROBERT HAMMOND

Born in 1968, UK. Lives and works in Beirut, Lebanon.

Robert Hammond’s work employs iconography, the “sign” process and today’s interfaces for content. His mediums and materials are line-art, 3d modelling, computer cut glass, cast aluminum and polished steel. His message is Spirit, Thrill and Innocence. The compound results are translated into heavy, wall-hung, relief sculptures.
A signaling of “affirmation” found in the broad use of smiling faces enrolls sentiment as a device.
Spirit and zeal are activated by the movement of energetic line-art, and reflections - created by the deliberate use of polished mirror surfaces.

Process and Media
The process of creation also makes its way into his aesthetics removing the artist’s hand - in a process of steps that sees line art transferred into 3D computer artwork - then large-scale 3d models are printed - from which a casting is produced - which is then mirror-polished and then painted by hand. It is a process that takes one or two years to see completion.
Roby Hammond’s works have been shown in exhibitions in the USA, England and UAE.
