Sara Shamma is a Syrian artist born in Damascus who paints with oil colors on canvas. Her paintings are characterized by great sensitivity, masterful style and original technique.
Over the course of her career, Shamma has received a number of prestigious awards including First Prize at the 2001 Latakia Biennial in Syria; Fourth Prize at the National Portrait Gallery in London’s 2004 BP Portrait Award ; First Prize in Painting in the South Australian Museum Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize in Adelaide; and others around Europe, the Middle East and the USA
In December 2010, Sara Shama became a WFP Celebrity Partner. Shamma will support WFP through her artwork and use her position and reputation on the cultural scene to bring attention to humanitarian projects.
